Studio 55 Fine Arts Guild will hold a charity art exhibit and silent auction as part of the “Friday Night Art Walk” on Sept. 5, 2014, to raise funds for Harmony House and Crosslines. This event, from 6-8:30 p.m. at National Avenue Christian Church, 1515 S. National Ave. in Springfied will feature acrylic, watercolor, pastels, oil, photography, mixed media and woodcarvings for sale or auction.

Members of Studio 55 are local artisans who enjoy exploring forms of artistic expression. Originally established to encourage artistic development of members 55 years and older.

Studio 55 meets from 1-3 p.m., on the second Wednesday of each month at National Avenue Christian Church, and offers a variety of speakers, demonstrations and workshops throughout the year. Members share their varied training and life experiences with members and guests.

An exhibit assembled by Studio 55 Fine Arts Guild in cooperation with The Gallery on National Avenue. will continue through Sept. 23 at The Gallery at National Avenue, 1515 S. National Ave., in Springfield. Some of the creationswill be displayed on the gallery’s Facebook page.

His preference is for positive and uplifting stories about people, places, traditions and trends that make the Ozarks one of the most livable regions anywhere. A member of the Garden Writers Association of America, he is a past-president of the Society of Professional Journalists of Southwest Missouri, the Kansas and Ohio AP societies; a board member of Friends of the Garden and a member of the Rotary Club of Springfield. In 1976, he traveled to India as a member of a Rotary Foundation Group Study Exchange Team.
