Twilight Tunnel Walk on Sept. 22 includes tips for growing under cover
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A Twilight Tunnel Walk begins at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 22 at the Winter Production Education Center located on the Yang Farm, 1213 Route U, Rocky Comfort (1.77 miles south of the intersection of State Highway 76 & Route U).
Walk through the center’s two high tunnels with University of Missouri Extension experts and experienced farmers. Tunnels are currently being planted for fall and winter.
Topics to be discussed include heating and trapping heat via sidewalls and row cover, transplanting, soil and fertility, anticipated growth and harvest schedules and an up-date from site manager.
The walk is free and open to growers and the general public.
The Twilight Tunnel Walk takes place on the fourth Thursday of each month.
The Winter Production Education Center is a project of the Webb City Farmers Market, University of Missouri Extension and Lincoln University Extension. It is funded in part by a specialty crops grant from the Missouri Department of Agriculture.
